Title: Accounting Specialist

Schedule: Hybrid

Comp: $26-$31.25/hr dependent on applicable experience

Location: Greater MPLS area (this role requires weekly onsite presence, only local candidates in Minnesota will be eligible for consideration)

We're working with a client looking to add a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid accounting foundation who enjoys owning the full AP cycle and collaborating cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for accounts payables (AP) invoice processing on 2 and 3-way match purchases.
• Supervise weekly AP invoice on hold report.
• Compile and monitor AP Aging Report.
• Forecasting of weekly payment registers.
• Work with Procurement or suppliers to resolve invoice/purchase order discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries and accruals for assigned accounts.
• Assist in reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and variances analysis to identify/research/resolve unusual balances.
• Assist in annual external audit as well as our annual 401(k) audit.
• Special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

• 2 to 3 years of accounting experience.
• Understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Also, understanding of SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) controls.
• Ability to work with all levels of management and operational groups.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of the functionality of Microsoft Excel, basic formulas, pivot tables and charts.
