Job Description

At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That’s where you come in!

The Dungeons & Dragons Game Design team is a collaborative and versatile group dedicated to making D&D as fun as it can be. Our team is responsible for D&D game content from beginning to end, working with cross-functional teams to ensure the experiences we make resonate with players and fans. This includes mechanical and narrative design, play innovations, playtests, product exploration, and other design-related tasks.

Do you have high emotional intelligence; a proven understanding of process, people, and design; and a passion for building amazing teams? In this role, you’ll be responsible for the growth and engagement of designers while guiding them toward excellence. As a member of the Game Design leadership team, you'll work to align the team's culture, skills, and output with the D&D franchise at large.

This role is a hybrid role requiring three days a week in our Renton, WA office.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage and develop the D&D Game Design team through regular one-on-ones and daily contact. Give regular, direct guidance and feedback to help each designer grow.
  • Ensure your hiring pipeline sources diverse, dedicated people and maintain a fair testing and interview process. Guide, train, and mentor new hires to set them up for success in their roles.
  • Monitor the team's dynamic, workflow, and results. Creatively improve, adjust, and implement sustainable processes that support balanced workloads, healthy collaboration, and lasting success.
  • Develop detailed documentation for internal and external partners—such as design checklists, guidelines, and templates.
  • Guide the identity and mission of the team in collaboration with studio leadership.
  • Contribute to game design efforts when appropriate.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing creative talent in game development.
  • Dedicated drive for fostering and growing design talent.
  • Compassion, appreciation, and a deep understanding of people.
  • Self-motivated curiosity, active listening, and a diverse toolbox of leadership skills.
  • Positive, energetic, and articulate communication to improve on D&D's shared vision.
  • Familiarity with Dungeons & Dragons and game design.
