Job Description

A private couple in the West Village is seeking an experienced Housekeeper to provide comprehensive housekeeping, laundry, organization, and household support within their residence. This is an excellent opportunity for a discreet, service-minded professional who takes pride in maintaining an exceptionally clean, organized, and welcoming home.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working in private households and understands the importance of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. They are proactive, naturally organized, and capable of anticipating household needs while working independently with minimal oversight.

This position will begin at approximately 20 hours per week, generally scheduled Monday through Friday during morning hours, with the potential for additional hours over time. One principal works from home, making a thoughtful, respectful presence and the ability to read the room especially important.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed housekeeping and deep cleaning throughout the residence
• Care for fine furnishings, specialty surfaces, and delicate household finishes using appropriate cleaning methods and products
• Maintain the overall cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the home
• Handle all aspects of laundry, including washing, folding, steaming, ironing, and garment care
• Coordinate dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up
• Track dry cleaning, alterations, and wardrobe items to ensure proper care and organization
• Organize closets, storage areas, and household spaces
• Run household errands as needed
• Monitor household supplies and communicate replenishment needs
• Assist with light meal preparation on occasion, if desired
• Provide occasional assistance with letting the family dog outside as needed
• Support the day-to-day needs of the household and assist with special projects as requested

Requirements

• Minimum of 5-7 years of professional housekeeping experience
• Prior experience working within private residences preferred
• Strong laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care skills
• Experience caring for fine furnishings and specialty household finishes
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Strong sense of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Comfortable working in a home with a cat and dog

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with wardrobe maintenance and dry-cleaning management
• Strong organizational and household systems experience
• Confidence with light meal preparation

Compensation
