Job Description

Whitlam Group is seeking a detail-oriented Inspector / Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will inspect printed label rolls for quality while operating slitting and rewinding equipment to convert master rolls into finished products that meet customer specifications. You will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive defect-free, high-quality label products while supporting safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Inspector / Slitter Operator, you will:

  • Operate slitting and rewinding equipment to convert master rolls into finished label rolls.
  • Inspect printed labels for quality, color consistency, registration, die cutting and overall appearance.
  • Identify and remove defective material to ensure only quality products are shipped.
  • Set up equipment, including blade alignment, web tension and core placement.
  • Review job specifications and customer requirements before and during production.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Label, package and stage finished products for shipment.
  • Accurately record production information, material usage, waste and downtime.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and Management to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety policies while maintaining a clean, organized work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and production specifications.
  • Ability to read a ruler and perform basic math calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience.
  • Experience operating slitting, rewinding or converting equipment.
  • Experience performing quality inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and data entry.
