Local Truck Driver

Geneva, OH

Truckmen Warehousing & Distribution is currently searching for a full-time Local Truck Driver to transport materials from source to site safely, efficiently, and effectively using dump trucks, pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks and box trucks.

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday
• Daytime shifts
• Travel required 95% of the time

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma (or GED)
• Two years of previous experience in tractor/trailer driving required
• Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, and dispatch
• Valid Class-A CDL required
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests
• DOT Medical Certification required
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret road maps, navigation systems, and bill of ladings
• Must have clean MVR and PSP
• Safety bonus awarded Quarterly and Annually

Responsibilities:

• Operate tractor trailer with 53’ vans, and box trucks
• Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from loading crew and check that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
• Stay aware of overhead conditions during dump operations
• Responsible for receiving material load tickets from pick-up and delivering to foreman
• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
• Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions
• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order and report issues to the appropriate person
• Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous/hazardous goods
• Educate themselves on weight restrictions and distribution; stay up to date on updates regarding DOT regulations
• Ensure proper coupling and inspects all trailers
• Perform vehicle pre and post inspections
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles
• Complete inspection logs
• Fill truck with fuel at the end of each workday
• Clean cab and trailers daily
• Perform all other duties as assigned
